Chromium (Chromic chloride)

Chromium is a trace mineral which is a component of Glucose Tolerance Factor – a biologically active complex of chromium and nicotinic acid that facilitates the reaction of insulin with receptor sites on tissues. Chromium enhances the action of insulin and therefore reduces the amount of glucose circulating in the blood stream. A symptom of insulin resistance is having high levels of glucose in the body, which in turn can increase inflammation in the body.  Insulin resistance also induces growth factors, which have been shown to exacerbate skin conditions such as psoriasis vulgaris, seborrheic keratosis, acanthosis nigricans, acne and ichthyosis.

Copper is a mineral found in trace amounts in all tissues in the body. Although only a small amount is needed, copper is an essential nutrient that plays a role in the production of hemoglobin, myelin, collagen, and melanin. Copper also works with vitamin C to help make a component of connective tissue known as elastin.

Colecaciferole (Vitamin D3)

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that plays a role in many important body functions, and is vital for the preservation of health. Vitamin D is utilized for calcium and phosphorous metabolism needed in maintaining healthy bones, and is vital for the healthy functioning of the musculoskeletal system.

Matricaria recutita (Chamomile)

Chamomile has a calming, mildly sedative effect on the nervous system, and also acts as anti-spasmodic. It is useful for the treatment of nervous tension and digestive disorders where it has a calming, and soothing effect of visceral smooth muscle and mucosa, and is useful in the treatment of gastric ulcers.

Gentiana lutea (Gentian)

Gentian is a bitter herb that acts as digestive tonic via increasing gastric secretion, stimulating secretion of small intestine enzymes, increasing bile flow, and thus having a positive effect on increasing appetite. Gentian also possesses antioxidant compounds as well, that can have an anti-inflammatory effect.

Glycyrrhiza glabra (Licorice)

Licorice has been reported to have several pharmacological effects such as anti-inflammatory, adrenal tonic, anti-hypertensive, mucoprotective, demulcent, expectorant and antitussive, antiviral, and is a mild laxative.

Scutellaria baicalenis (Baical skullcap)

Baical skullcap is a herb that has long been used in traditional Chinese medicine. Baical skullcap is a rich in antioxidant flavonoid compounds, and is principle herb used for the treatment of allergies and inflammation. The flavonoids in baical skullcap are known to inhibit the synthesis of inflammatory mediators, stabilize mast cells and inhibit the release of histamine.

Bupleurum falcatum

Bupleurum is a Chinese herb which has its main affinity of action on the liver, having a protective effect and increasing the ability of the liver to withstand toxic insult. The main constituents in Bupleurum also have an anti-inflammatory effect.

Ginkgo biloba

Ginkgo biloba is one of the oldest living tree species. A single tree can live as long as 1,000 years and grow to a height of 120 feet. The flavonoid component of the herb has potent antioxidant effects which explains its popularity for its use as a neuroprotective, and anti-ageing herb. The active compounds in Gingko improve circulation by dilating blood vessels, and reduce the stickiness of platelets (anti-clotting effect). Increases in blood flow mean ginkgo improves oxygen and nutrient supply to the organs and tissues, attributing to its anti-ageing and rejuvenating effects.

Vitis vinerfera (Grapeseed extract)

Grapeseed extract in known to be a powerful anti-oxidant due to its high content of polyphenols: mostly oligomeric procyanidins (OPCs). OPCs have a number of key activities in relation to tissue healing. It has been shown to support and protect connective tissue via the downregulation of destructive enzymes (MMPs), which trigger inflammation and destroy connective tissue. OPCs also facilitate the formation of collagen and help to construct the final stage of collagen construction known as cross linking.

Potassium is a very important mineral for the proper functioning of all cells, tissues, and organs in the human body. Along with sodium, chloride, calcium, and magnesium, potassium acts as an electrolyte in the body. Potassium regulates blood pressure, and is crucial to nerve and heart function. Potassium plays a key role in skeletal and smooth muscle contraction, making it important for normal digestive and muscular function.

Plantago assiatica

Plantain has been traditionally used to externally treat wounds, inflamed skin or dermatitis, and insect bites.  The seeds of plantain are highly mucilaginous and are used to sooth irritated mucous membranes.

Plantain contains compounds that are anti-hemorrhagic, antimicrobial, expectorant, antitussive and mild anti-inflammatory. Plantain is considered by herbalists to be a gentle, soothing expectorant, and additionally to have a mild astringent effect resulting in reduced secretions or discharges.

Selenomethionine (Selenium)

Selenium is nutritionally essential antioxidant and is a constituent of more than two dozen selenoproteins. Selenoproteins form glutathione peroxidase which is an antioxidant enzyme that reduces free radicals (reactive oxygen species) protecting the body from DNA damage, infection and disease. Selenium also plays critical roles in reproduction, thyroid hormone metabolism, and DNA synthesis.

Manganese aids in the formation of connective tissue, bones, blood-clotting factors, and sex hormones. Manganese is also an enzyme activator and co-factor in lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, and plays a role in calcium absorption, and blood sugar regulation. Manganese is also necessary for normal brain and nerve function.

Magnesium Oxide

Magnesium is an essential nutritional element needed for many physiological processes such as energy metabolism, protein synthesis, and cell signalling. Magnesium helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function, and keeps heart rhythm steady.

An essential mineral that is naturally present in some foods, added to others, and available as a dietary supplement. Zinc is involved in numerous aspects of cellular metabolism. It is required for the catalytic activity of approximately 100 enzymes and it plays a role in immune function, protein synthesis, wound healing, DNA synthesis and cell division.
